Each day Americans consume untold quantities of pesticides and other chemical additives in the foods we eat. Currently all consumers have only one choice to limit exposure to pesticides in their food: to buy organically farmed food. I realize that organic foods are more expensive than commercially farmed foods. However, one can offset the higher cost of organics by growing his or her own vegetables. Not only that, the consumer would benefit by knowing which products have the highest levels of pesticides and buy them organic instead. Organic food is not treated or grown with dangerous pesticides; it is environmentally friendly and helpful to the local economy. Analysis and Discussion The Consumer Buying Decision Process According to consumer buying decision and behavior model the three major factors depending which the buying behavior of different consumers varies from each other are mentioned below, Economic Model This model is largely based on quantitative aspects and perception of the consumer about rationality. In this type of model, consumer buying behaviour is generally assessed through realising their tendencies for maximizing the utility of their purchased goods or services (Du et al 2016). Psychological Model Psychological and cognitive process of consumer buying decision making process majorly relies on the motivation and need of the consumers for buying a certain product or service and it is majorly based on qualitative illustrations rather than quantitative approaches. It majorly considers the sociological factors like cultural, family and other influences on the buying decision making process of a buyer (Horner Swarbrooke, 2016). Thus it could be said that the person and the concerned family belongs to medium socioeconomic level which makes the higher holiday packages like Option 1 (Spain, France and Italy) a bit expensive. Subsequently it could also be observed from the responses of the respondent 3 that he has provided the cost for the holiday packages with the greatest importance marks (35) which itself shows the concern of the person about the expenses (Wang et al 2015). It could also be observed from the survey data of the respondent 3 that he has given activities available in the holiday packages with the second greatest importance marks as he has agreed that the family preferences influences his buying decisions for holiday packages. Accordingly, it could be observed from the ranking of the holiday packages made by respondent 3 that he provided option 4 (Hong Kong), Option 3 (New Zealand) and Option 2 (Las Vegas) with the higher preferences for making his buying decisions as all these holiday packages are average at cost but contained with several joyful activities which could be satisfying for him and his family (Barls-Arizn et al 2013). In case of the respondent 4 the buying decision has been made by the respondent in a different manner due to several of different factors compared to the former respondent (respondent 3). The respondent 4 is a younger female of 24 years old with lesser family responsibilities (Jin et al 2012). Younger people are much conscious about their experiences for choosing a holiday destination and subsequently it could be observed from the responses of the respondent 4 that she has provided the activities with the greatest importance marks (50) in the survey questionnaire. She selected Option 3 (New Zealand) and option 4 (Hong Kong) as her most preferable holiday destinations as these packages are economic in nature and comparatively offer a wider range of activities (Wang et al 2015). Although the respondent 4 has provided the cost for the packages with second largest importance marks (20) due to the belonging of her family to medium socioeconomic level with an average household income of $1 26,000 she choose Option 1 (Spain, France and Italy) as the respondent earns around $51,000 and young enough to have the desire for experiencing the wider range of activities contained in Option 1 holiday package (Grbac et al 2015). In case of the responses of the respondent 5 it could be observed from the demographic data of the respondent that it is a lady of 59 years old belonging to weaker economic condition with an average pretax income of $71,100. However, the buying decision making tendencies of the respondent differs from respondent 3 and 4 due to her family status and some other significant demographic factors. It could be observed that the respondent is divorced and the sole member and earner of the family (Horner Swarbrooke, 2016). She goes on holiday for her own entertainment needs and relaxation which rather focusing on cost for the holidays attracted her interest in the available activities in the holiday packages and subsequently she has provided activities with the highest importance marks (30). However, due to limited income abilities she has to give the costs for holiday package options with second highest importance marks (20). Thus it could be said that the person goes on holidays all alone which prioritize the available activities rather than the price for her decision making approaches and that is the reason option 3 and 6 are her most preferred holiday packages as they are medium at cost but full with activities (Mariani, 2013). Discussion It could be observed from the above analysis of the collected research data from the respondent 3, 4 and 5 in the survey that buying decision of consumers for tourism factors is majorly dependent on various significant socioeconomic and demographic factors. That is why in almost all the cases price and activities for the holiday packages have been prioritised by the respondents for making their buying decisions for the available package options (Liasidou, 2013). However, the demographic factors make the differences among the included respondents. Respondent 3 having the highest income capacity prioritised the price for the packages as he have to bear the expenses for his entire family and but respondent 4 prioritised the available activities due to her younger age and adventure instincts (Decrop Kozak, 2014). However, respondent 3 has chosen the medium price packages even after having the lowest income capacity as she goes on holiday all alone due to being an old aged and divorced p erson. Thus, it could be said that combination of socioeconomic and demographic factors for realising the buying decision making tendencies of the consumers could be the most effective process for the marketers in travel and tourism industry to design consumer offerings (Du et al 2016). Recommendations It could be observed from the analysis that holiday package marketer for option 1 (Spain, France and Italy) mostly got the least priority by the respondents due to comparatively higher package pricing ($10,990). Thus, the most effective recommendations which could be suggested for the market of this holiday package depending on the above analysis are provided below, Segmentation of the holiday trip based on different nations among the included 3 (Spain, France and Italy) or based on overall 10 cities so that consumers with lower affordability and income capacity with be offered with choice options for shorter and limited period holiday (Anderson, 2013). The organisation kept the pricing higher at higher range ($10,990) which makes the package mostly unaffordable to common people with average income capacities. The Old Man and the Sea The Old Man and the Sea The Nobelprize winning book: The old man and the sea, has been written by Ernest Hemingway and was published in 1982, though the original American print had been published in 1952. The title is exactly what the book is about. It is a short story. The story is written in one continuous whole and is written from the view of the writer, it is very realistic. The description of the setting are the dominating factor in this book. The author spends a lot of time, for describing the sea, and what takes place. There are a lot of dialogues in the book. Example: "Who gave this to you" "Martin. The owner" "I must thank him" "I thanked him already," the boy said. "You don't need to thank him." "I'll give him the belly meat of a big fish," the old man said. "Has he done this for us more than once?" "I think so" "I must give him something more than the belly meat then. He is very thoughtful for us." The next fragment I find really representative for the whole book, because it is a fragment in which the old man is talking to himself, like he does all the time, and he is saying how great the fish is, which he does quite a few times too. "He is a great fish and I must convince him, he thought. I must never let him learn his strength nor what he could do if he made his run. If I were him I would put in everything now and go until something broke. But, thank God, they are not as intelligent as who kill them; although they are more noble and more able." The book is about an old man, who goes out fishing (his profession, not as a sport) one day. He decides to go really far out, before the sun comes up. Then one of his lines goes under, and he hooks the fish. But the fish is so strong, that he can't pull him up. The old man thinks that if he lets the fish pull his boat, a sailing-boat the size of a rowing-boat, the fish will go out of strength and die soon. But it's a very very strong fish and he keeps pulling for a day and a half. Then the fish gets out of strength and starts circling around the boat, a sign of tiredness. But when the fish is close to the boat the old man sees how big he really is, he thinks he is about 1500 pounds. But the old man stays cool and kills the fish with his harpoon. He ties the fish to his boat and puts out his sail, for his journey back home. As he travells back, many sharks eat from the dead fish, but the old man kills them as soon as possible. The old man kills the first sharks with his harpoon, but after he killed three sharks, the fourth shark takes his harpoon. Then he attaches his knife to an oar. He kills a couple of sharks with that construction, but after that, it doesn't last. The knife disappears in the sea. Then he only has one single oar to defend the big dead fish against the sharks. He managed to scare a few off by hitting them with the oar. But then it is too much for the old man. The sharks eat the whole fish, and when the old man came back in the harbor after two days at sea, he only has a carcas at his side. Almost the whole story takes place at the sea near Cuba. Just the beginning and the end the story takes place in a small poor fishermentown at the cost of Cuba. The people are very simple, there is a small caf near the harbor, but that's about it. The main character in the book is the old man. His name is really Santiago, but he is called "The old man". He spends his days with fishing and daydreaming about what he did in his life. There are many social factors but I have highlighted the main ones. These social factors can be used later in life maybe to have respect for work colleagues. Learning respect for others When participating in local sports teams children tend to have respect for their team mates, but also their opponents. Due to the sex difference during school boys tend to be outside whereas girls play indoors. Because of boy playing sport outside they tend to learn goal setting, independent roles, techniques to improve performance and settle dispute. Whereas girls tend to cooperate better and have good patience. Development of coping ability When children play matches or games there are only one winning team but there is also a losing team. When losing the children will have to cope with disappointment and have respect for teamwork and the opposing team. When winning it will teach the children to have respect for the opposing side. Improved cooperation skills A successful team will need to cooperate to do well in a competition, so when children play in a competition in a team sport the performers will need to cooperate with each other, when older they can cooperate with people and consider other peoples feelings and views. Improved emotional wellbeing Participating in regular sports can decrease stress, it has been shown that boy and girls who play for teams have shown a greater ability to relax and avoid headache and back pains to those who dont play regular sports. Psychological effects Playing sport at an early age can have psychological effects which include an increase of motor skills, development of a sense of success and failure, these all can be used later in life. Increase range of motor skills Coaches and family encourage their children to play a range of sport because regular participation in sports improves hand eye coordination, coordination and balance. This means they will be good at a range of sports and when they grow up they can use these motor skills to understand tasks. Greater confidence and self esteem Children who participate in sport tend to more confident in their abilitys compared to those who dont. This means they will be comfortable in social situations and when a challenge comes across they will find a solution. Developed sense of success and failure As a regular participant in sport you will have to face success and failure when losing you will need to accept your loss and look where you went wrong, when winning you will need to have respect for your opponent. Increased motivation Children play sport for many reasons they can include pride, challenge of competition, desire and determination to succeed. These reasons will make children determined and motivated to succeed in their sport. Physiological effects Physiological effects can include a number of factors which include improved general health and improved fitness. Improved general health Sports serve as an excellent physical exercise. Those who play sports have a more positive body image than those who do not. Playing sports often involves physical activities like running, jumping and stretching and moreover a constructive expenditure of energy. Playing sports since an early age strengthens the bones and muscles and tones ones body. Thus sports provide the body with a complete exercise. Improved fitness After all, nearly every sport involves some kind of physical exercise, which is one of the key components of a healthy lifestyle. While a single sport can still do wonders for your body, by participating in a variety of them, you can work different muscles. For example, while football is more about strength, rugby involves more speed.

Wow! 12 years of hard work, 12 years of perseverance, 12 years of dedication! A great king once said, "The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man is he who listens to counsel." We each have mentors in our life who give us this counsel. What we choose to do with it determines if we are considered foolish or wise. Naturally, we tend to think we are always right, and even on the occasions when we are right, there is always something to learn from a second opinion. Take just a second to think back over the last 18 years of your life. Think of all the second opinions you've received. These opinions and the people who shared them go you to this point. While you may think you got here through your own doing, think a little harder and consider those days when all you wanted to do was climb trees, play with Barbie dolls or watch "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" all day long. What changed that? Was there one day when, suddenly, in your most mature five-year-old voice you said, "Mom, Dad, I've made a decision. I want to start saving for college. Could you please put my allowance in a bank account for me?" Personally, I can say that I did not have one of those days. As diligent as you may think I am to my studies, I can say for certain that I would have loved to just play outside all day and stay up late watching movies. However, as much fun as I would have had, I would not have gotten very far. Thankfully, I had numerous people in my life who showed me, at just the right times, how to grow. Think of your teachers, preschool through high school, who cared enough each day to come to school to a class of at least 30 kids who each had their own agenda and were able to make each child's agenda important. Think of your friends, brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, grandparents and others who have showed you how to be a good friend and how to grow in relationships, simply by being there. Think of coaches and instructors you've had who pushed you to do things you didn't want to do so that you would achieve the things you wanted to achieve.

Dickens present as the perfect gentleman Essay

One of the most important themes in â€Å"Great Expectations† is the idea of what makes the perfect gentleman. Dickens presents this idea through the adventures of Pip and how he develops his idea of what a true gentleman is. His first image of a gentleman is purely based on what their appearance is, such as Cousin Raymond and Jaggers on Miss Havisham’s birthday, and then he calls Herbert â€Å"the pale young gentleman†. These presumptions are not based on personality, yet towards the end of the book, he does not respect Herbert or Magwitch due to their appearance, but because he has realised that a true gentleman has many more qualities than just a good outward appearance. However, Pip’s initial impressions of a gentleman are of a person who is wealthy and affluent. When Pip first meets a gentleman, Cousin Raymond at Satis House on Miss Havisham’s birthday, he describes him and three other ladies as â€Å"toadies and humbugs†. Here, Dickens presents them as very unpleasant characters and makes the reader hate them from the start. This effect is created by how he first presents them as boring (â€Å"the ladies had to speak quite rigidly to repress a yawn†), and then they look down at Pip (â€Å"they all looked at me with the utmost contempt†). Here Dickens seemed to be sending out the message that not all so-called â€Å"gentlemen† are necessarily polite or well-mannered. Furthermore, Pip’s next meeting with a gentleman is not pleasant either. When Pip first meets Jaggers, on the same day, Pip does not take a liking to him either. Dickens presents him as a bossy type of person, suggested by the language which Jaggers uses whilst talking to Pip. He first asks him â€Å"Boy of the neighbourhood? † This implies that Jaggers thinks less of Pip; as inferior to him. This is incredibly rude of Jaggers, who also suggests that he is like an object, by referring to him by a bad â€Å"set† of fellows. Jaggers would definitely be considered a gentleman by the Victorians at that time. As he himself mentions, he is â€Å"pretty well known† and is very wealthy. Here Dickens presents him as a snob who is simply showing off. However, Jaggers would simply not be considered a gentleman in a more modern society as he is definitely not caring or loving or even slightly kind. This is shown by the way in which he only wants a yes or no answer and that when someone doesn’t, he very rudely interrupts and asks them again. For example, when he is talking to his clients, he asks one of them if they have paid Wemmick yet. When that person doesn’t answer yes or no, Jaggers tells them that â€Å"I don’t ask you when you have made it up†¦ Have you paid Wemmick? † This instantly shows the true character of Jaggers as a selfish person who always gets what he wants.
